Review: Make Up For Ever ‘Aqua Cream’

Even though myself I have super oily eyelids and creamy products does not work that well, I still love cream eye shadows, especially the ones that comes in the pot. Somehow it just attracts my attention.

Since MUFE is one of my favourite all time make up brands, of course I have a ton of their cream shadows, called ‘Aqua cream’.

The amazing part of them that you can actually use them as an eye shadow, eye liner, on cheeks and lips or wherever your fantasy says to. And whenever you are choosing any product from Make Up For Ever, you can be certain, that it’s going to be super pigmented also.

Talking about the colours, they all are a bit luminous- either pearly have micro shiny particles, but nothing over the top. And they have a seriously strong colour payoff. Just a bit of product goes a long way. A bit of the downside could be, that you have to work with them superfast, as they set in seconds. And then they would not budge… Myself I adore them for both working on the set of a crazy photo shoot or for a natural look.

Unfortunately not all shades are suitable for a certain use (let’s say the red one is not suitable for the eyes or bright green can’t be used on the lips, so I highly suggest to check MUFE website before purchasing any colours).

Dark under eye circles

I get asked so often from my clients why do they have dark circles and how to get rid of them. It’s a very delicate subject, since so many woman are sensitive about it. Dark circles can make face look more tired and aged.

Dark and discoloured under eye circles are two different types – some of them have reddish blue/purple type of colour, other ones are brown toned.

Unfortunately skin under the eyes is much thinner and more sensitive than the rest of the face. The bluish or purplish under eyes are usually caused by blood vessels showing through the skin and causing discoloration to show. It can happen if you get this genetically or when you are under a lot of stress and get tired- blood tends to flow more to the internal organs, leaving skin looking much paler, making the blood vessels show through stronger, so it appears that you are getting under eye circles. Ageing is also a reason for this type of under eye circles, because skin gets even thinner and more sensitive.

Another thing is, sometimes discoloration under the eyes can be caused by the allergies. The only way to prevent it would be discovering what you are actually allergic to. That way you could simply avoid those allergens. On the other hand, some allergies are seasonal, which it would be the best to consult a doctor and get proper medications to reduce it.

The brownish under eye is genetic problem, which is also really hard to have an effective treatment.

The first and most important step should be actually preventing under eye area from getting darker. Always try to use sun protection. It’s the best to wear sun glasses as well as use cream with a high SPF. Obviously drinking a lot of water (at least 2 litres a day) and having enough of sleep (7-9 hours of calm and quiet sleep) do miracles, but hardly it will be enough for an already existing problem. I would definitely recommend investing in a good and vitamin rich eye cream. Vitamin K is proven to lighten up the darkness. Also look for hyaluronic acid (it plumps the skin) vitamin C, E and retinol (prevents from ageing) infused creams.

Haul: Illamasqua

I got my Illamasqua delivery few days ago, but only now I had a chance to take a look at the products. Since they are super exciting, I have to share this with you guys :)

So this is what I got:

Powder Blusher Duo in 'Lover/Hussy' (I already swatched the colours- they seem a bit powdery but very matte and pigmented)

Mascara (I guess they only have one mascara, because there are no specific name for it, brush looks very promising) in 'Raven'

Two sheer lipglosses in 'Torture' and 'Divine' (colours are sheer and smells very sweet, gloss does not feel sticky at all)

Eye pencil in 'Seize' (lovely aubergine colour)

A day with RawRags

I always get excited to get involved of creating upcoming designers look- book. Having unique clothing gives me loads of inspiration to match makeup for the looks.

This time we got a chance to work with these amazing handmade clothes by a designer from Denmark Pia Kokholm (www.rawrags.dk), who sent the clothes directly to London. Unfortunately we didn’t get a chance to meet her personally, but her creations are wonderful. The clothes  has lots of lace and tulle details and looks super feminine and a bit vintage. Especially the whole team fell in love with bridal dresses!

In that sense I decided to focus on light and natural makeup with pastel colours, but add some false lashes for a bit of drama. My Shu Uemura limited edition palette (from calibration with Takashi Murakami) called Heart- full Pink Parallel palette of soft colours came in very handy. Definitely have to write a review about it!

We teamed up with photographer Kamal Mostofi (www.kamalmostofi.com) and stylist Anna Marena (www.annamarena.co.uk) and created a beautiful showcase of the designs.

Can’t wait for the images to be available for publishing!
